Limbaugh: “Gay People Are Being Used As The Latest Battering Ram Against The Constitution”

by Fae Jencks

Rush Limbaugh opened his show extremely upset about yesterday's court ruling overturning California's Proposition 8. He said that the Reagan-nominated judge's ruling shows that the “federal judiciary [is] now run by leftist nutjobs.” He also called the ruling “tyranny” and claimed that Democrats aren't “cheering” for gay marriage, they are cheering “for weakening the U.S. Constitution.”

Limbaugh then suggested that Sharron Angle's comments claiming that Democrats “want us to treat government as God.” were “exactly right.” He called the California ruling a “bastardization” of the law and the Constitution, and suggested that gay people are “being used as the latest battering ram against the Constitution.” Limbaugh even went so far as to claim that the idea of “secession” is no longer “the rantings of extreme kookism anymore,” because the Prop. 8 ruling and the Missouri ballot initiative on health care show that “the left only loves elections when they win them.”

Limbaugh also found time to criticize Michelle Obama for her trip to Spain, saying the First lady is “doing her Marie Antoinette impersonation.” Rush continued to criticize the administration for its response to the Gulf oil spill, telling Press Secretary Robert Gibbs that he should apologize to Gulf residents for doing “more to harm the economic viability of the Gulf of Mexico than BP did.”
