CPAC Got Rid Of Milo, But Not The Rest Of Their Bigoted Lineup

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has rescinded the speaking offer its leadership made to former Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos, who has a history of bigotry, following the circulation of a video in which Yiannopoulos appeared to endorse pedophilia. Yet Yiannopoulos isn’t the only person scheduled to speak at the 2017 CPAC who has a history of making offensive remarks; the conference’s roster is full of speakers who push xenophobic or otherwise discriminatory agendas and action and buy into conspiracy theories.

CPAC Boots Known Bigot Milo Yiannopoulos From Speaker List

Former Breitbart Tech Editor Milo Yiannopoulos Disinvited From Speaking At CPAC. Former Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos was disinvited from the 2017 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) “after the publication of a video in which he condones sexual relations with boys as young as 13,” according to The New York Times. The Times added that “endorsing pedophilia, it seemed, was more than” conservatives could tolerate. From the February 20 article:

Milo Yiannopoulos, a polemical Breitbart editor and unapologetic defender of the alt-right, tested the limits of how far his provocations could go after the publication of a video in which he condones sexual relations with boys as young as 13 and laughs off the seriousness of pedophilia by Roman Catholic priests.

On Monday, the organizers of the Conservative Political Action Conference rescinded their invitation for him to speak this week. Simon & Schuster said it was canceling publication of “Dangerous” after standing by him through weeks of criticism of the deal. And Breitbart itself was reportedly reconsidering his role amid calls online for it to sever ties with him.

Mr. Yiannopoulos’s comments, which quickly created an uproar online over the weekend, put many conservatives in a deeply uncomfortable position. They have long defended Mr. Yiannopoulos’s attention-seeking stunts and racially charged antics on the grounds that the left had tried to hypocritically censor his right to free speech.

But endorsing pedophilia, it seemed, was more than they could tolerate. The board of the American Conservative Union, which includes veterans of the conservative movement like Grover Norquist and Morton Blackwell, made the decision to revoke Mr. Yiannopoulos’s speaking slot and condemn his comments on Monday. [The New York Times, 2/20/17]

Yiannopoulos Already Had A Well-Known Record Of Bigotry Before CPAC Invited Him. Yiannopoulos has spent years positioning himself as the poster boy for radical “free speech,” traveling on speaking tours and doing publicity stunts that target, hurt, and harass women, people of color, undocumented students, and the transgender community, among other already at-risk groups. He was permanently banned from Twitter for his role in the targeted online attacks on black actress Leslie Jones after she starred in an all-female remake of the movie Ghostbusters. More recently, Yiannopoulos targeted a transgender student during an appearance on his college tour, displaying the student’s name and photo on a giant screen. [Media Matters, 2/20/17]

Yet CPAC Tolerates What These Other Speakers Have Said And Done

The Blaze And NRA TV's Dana Loesch

Dana Loesch Is Scheduled To Speak At CPAC.

[Conservative Political Action Committee, accessed 2/21/17]

Loesch Defended Marines Urinating On Dead Bodies. When she was a CNN contributor in 2012, Dana Loesch defended the actions of Marines in Afghanistn who were captured in a video appearing to urinate on dead bodies. Loesch said if she was in their place she would “drop trou and do it, too.” She also said “They're dead terrorists. I could care less.” The Marines were widely condemned for their actions. [Media Matters, 1/13/12]

Loesch: Media Are “The Rat Bastards Of The Earth.” Loesch claimed during the November 23 broadcast of NRATV that members of the press had been “curb-stomped” by Trump’s election and that the press is “the boil on the backside of American politics” and its members are “the rat bastards of the earth.” [Media Matters, 11/28/16]

Loesch Mocked Transgender People And Pushed The Bathroom Predator Myth. During the April 20 edition of her show on TheBlaze TV, Loesch mocked transgender people and peddled the debunked myth that sexual predators will exploit nondiscrimination protections to attack women and children in public restrooms. After the passage of North Carolina’s discriminatory anti-LGBTQ HB 2 -- a so-called “bathroom bill,” which prevented transgender people from using the appropriate restroom, Loesch tweeted, “It's obvious why everyone wants to use the #womensbathroom,” linking to a skit from her show in which a man with a beard walks into a women’s restroom and claims, “I’m identifying as a lady today.” [Media Matters, 4/20/16, 5/5/16, 11/18/16]

Loesch Defended Curt Schilling’s Tweet Comparing Muslims To Nazis. Loesch defended a tweet in August 2015 from then-ESPN analyst Curt Schilling comparing Muslims to Nazis. Loesch wrote on Twitter, “Where is the factual dispute?" She also told Schilling to “stop apologizing” for his tweet. [Media Matters, 8/26/15]

Loesch Speculated About Whether The Clintons Would Murder The Anti-Clinton Author Peter Schweizer. During the May 4, 2015, edition of her show, Loesch told Clinton Cash author Peter Schweizer that “there is always that concern for anyone who goes up against the Clinton machine that they could be Vince Fostered” and asked if he considered that possibility when “getting himself security.” Schweizer replied: “Yeah, I mean look -- there are security concerns that arise in these kinds of situations.” Anti-Clinton pundits have for years pushed the deranged conspiracy theory that the Clintons had then-deputy White House counsel Vince Foster killed in 1993 and covered it up. Frequent Fox Guest Sheriff David Clarke

Sheriff David Clarke To Speak At CPAC.

[Conservative Political Action Committee, accessed 2/21/17]

Clarke: African-Americans Deal Drugs “Because They Are ‘Lazy’ And ‘Morally Bankrupt.’” According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Milwaukee County, WI, Sheriff David Clarke claimed African-Americans sell drugs because they are “uneducated, they’re lazy, and they’re morally bankrupt” on an episode of his podcast. From a November 6, 2015, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article:

Just when you thought Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. couldn't top himself, he goes out and does this.

In a podcast on a conservative website, Clarke said African-Americans end up dealing drugs because they are “lazy” and “morally bankrupt.”

“Let me tell you why blacks sell drugs and involve themselves in criminal behavior instead of a more socially acceptable lifestyle — because they're uneducated, they're lazy, and they're morally bankrupt,” Clarke said. “That's why.”

This latest tirade punctuates a run of extreme and attention-grabbing comments. [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 11/6/15]

Clarke: Children Without Fathers “Grow Up To Be Unmanageable Misfits That The Police Then Have To Deal With Aggressively.” On Fox News’ The Kelly File, in discussing the mothers of victims of police brutality, including Freddie Gray, Michael Brown and Eric Garner, Clarke asked, “Where are the dads?” and claimed that growing up without fathers turns children into “unmanageable misfits” that police have no choice but to deal with aggressively. [Media Matters, 7/25/16]

Clarke: The Problem With Community Policing Is “That Young Black Males Don’t Respect Authority.” On the August 30 edition of Fox News’ The Kelly File, Clarke claimed the real problem with community policing is that young black males don’t respect authority. Clarke also questioned why so many black males “will not comply with law enforcement officers’ lawful commands to take them into custody?” [Media Matters, 8/30/16]

Clarke Compared Beyoncé’s Super Bowl Performance To KKK Rallies. After Beyoncé used her performance at the 2016 Super Bowl to make a political statement, Clarke appeared on Fox News to say, “Them coming out, Beyoncé in those Black Panther-type uniforms, would that be acceptable if a band, a white band came out in hoods and white sheets in the same sort of fashion? We would be appalled and outraged.” [Media Matters, 2/8/16]

Clarke Has Been Mum On Controversies Surrounding Multiple Deaths At His Jail. Clarke’s tenure as Milwaukee County sheriff has been filled with controversy. In April 2016, an inmate in Sheriff Clarke’s Milwaukee County Jail was found dead of “profound dehydration.” Since that incident, three other individuals, including a newborn infant, have died in Clarke’s Milwaukee County Jail. According to a Nexis search of transcripts of Fox News’ prime-time programs through November 29, Clarke has appeared on the network more than 40 times since the death of one of his inmates in April and did not receive a single question regarding inmates dying in his jail. [Media Matters, 11/29/16]

Trump Adviser And Former Breitbart Chairman Steve Bannon

Stephen Bannon Is Slated To Speak At CPAC.

[Conservative Political Action Committee, accessed 2/21/17]

Bannon Called Breitbart “The Platform For The Alt-Right.” White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon, in an interview with Mother Jones, called the site he led, Breitbart, “the platform for the alt-right.” The “alt-right” movement supports racism, sexism, anti-Muslim bigotry, and anti-Semitism and sees its goal as usurping the traditional conservative movement. Matt Schlapp, the head of the American Conservative Union, which runs CPAC, has said that conservatives should want to have “nothing to do with” the “alt-right.” [Mother Jones, 8/22/16; Media Matters, 8/25/16, 2/21/17]

Bannon Believes In “The Genetic Superiority Of Some People.” A New York Times profile of Bannon reported that he “occasionally talked about the genetic superiority of some people and once mused about the desirability of limiting the vote to property owners.” From the November 27 article:

Ms. [Julia] Jones, the film colleague, said that in their years working together, Mr. Bannon occasionally talked about the genetic superiority of some people and once mused about the desirability of limiting the vote to property owners.

“I said, ‘That would exclude a lot of African-Americans,’” Ms. Jones recalled. “He said, ‘Maybe that’s not such a bad thing.’ I said, ‘But what about Wendy?’” referring to Mr. Bannon’s executive assistant. “He said, ‘She’s different. She’s family.’” [The New York Times, 11/27/16]

Bannon Has Reportedly Made Anti-Semitic Remarks. Bannon’s ex-wife has claimed that while they were looking for schools for their children, Bannon asked the director of one “‘why there were so many Chanukah books in the library,’” asked her if it “bothered” her that another school they visited “used to be in a Temple,” and claimed he did not like another school because of “the number of Jews that attend.” She added that Bannon “doesn't like Jews and that he doesn't like the way they raise their kids to be 'whiney brats' and that he didn't want the girls going to school with Jews.” [NBC News, 8/27/16]

Bannon Has Claimed Multiple Figures Are Part Of The Muslim Brotherhood. Bannon has claimed that multiple Democrats and people are linked to the Muslim Brotherhood and Sharia law. He has suggested that the Clintons’ supposed involvement with a group called GEMS Education made them “complicit in a fifth column in this country of people that are taking money and making money and cashing in on our sworn enemies and the sworn enemies of just not the United States of America but the entire Judeo-Christian West?” He also speculated about whether the Muslim Brotherhood “had something to do with [Khizr] Khan being invited to talk” at the Democratic National Convention, and claimed that then-vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine was connected to the Muslim Brotherhood and that former President Barack Obama had “contracted” out the “shaping of .... policy” to the group. [Media Matters, 8/18/16]

Fox’s Todd Starnes

Todd Starnes Will Sign His Book The Deplorables’ Guide To Making America Great Again At CPAC.

[Conservative Political Action Committee, accessed 2/21/17]

Starnes Defended Curt Schilling’s Facebook Post Attacking Transgender People. After ESPN analyst Curt Schilling was fired for sharing an anti-transgender image on Facebook in April 2016, Fox’s Todd Starnes wrote on Twitter, “ESPN & militant LGBT activists want to silence anyone who opposes its agenda. That’s why @gehrig38 got fired. They will silence you, folks." He also claimed on Fox Business that Schilling’s post -- which included an image of a man in women’s clothes and said “Let him in to the restroom with your daughter or else you’re a narrow minded, judgmental, unloving, racist bigot who needs to die!” -- was not controversial, saying, “What ESPN is saying is we believe that men have the right to use a bathroom with your 13-year-old daughter.” [Media Matters, 4/21/16; Fox Business, Varney & Co., 4/21/16]

Starnes Lauded Trump’s Muslim Ban As “Rather Prudent.” Starnes in December 2015 praised Trump’s Muslim ban proposal, writing that it was “rather prudent.” From the Facebook post:

But a good many folks across the fruited plain support Mr. Trump's plan. Folks want to do whatever it takes to protect their families from the jihadists.

If you move beyond the toxic politics - what Mr. Trump is suggesting is not all that outrageous. It's rather prudent.

What's wrong with temporarily suspending Muslim immigration from countries harboring Islamic radicals?

Would it not be better to vet them over there - before they blow something up over here?

Unfortunately -- these days politics trumps common sense.

I want you to remember one cold hard reality -- Donald Trump is the product of a leadership vacuum in the Republican Party. So if you want to blame somebody for Mr. Trump's candidacy -- you can blame Establishment Republicans. [Media Matters, 12/8/15]

Starnes Suggested The French Themselves Were To Blame For Paris Terror Attacks. Following the 2015 Paris terror attacks, Starnes claimed the French were “reaping ... what they have sown with this immigration, mass immigration, where you have had, you know, hundreds and thousands of Muslims coming into the country.” He also added that “the Catholics and the Jews and the Protestants are not the ones blowing stuff up -- the Muslims are.” [Fox Business, Varney & Co., 12/2/15]

Anti-Muslim Hate Group Leader Frank Gaffney

Frank Gaffney Is Scheduled To Speak At CPAC.

[Conservative Political Action Committee, accessed 2/21/17]

Gaffney Accused Conservatives Of Being Part Of The Muslim Brotherhood, For Which He Was Previously Banned From CPAC. The Center for Security Policy’s Frank Gaffney has accused prominent conservatives Grover Norquist and Suhail Khan of secretly acting on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood. These accusations resulted in Gaffney being banned from CPAC previously. From the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) profile of the Center for Security Policy, which Gaffney runs:

A year after CSP published the Team B II report, Gaffney’s anti-Muslim conspiracy theories began to draw the ire of not only the left, but also the right. In January 2011, Gaffney penned a piece for the conspiracy-orientated website World Net Daily where he claimed that two board members of the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) were secretly aiding the Muslim Brotherhood. Gaffney’s evidence for such an accusation was that board member and anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist’s wife is Palestinian-American, while board member Suhail Khan is Muslim. Both were political appointees in the George W. Bush administration with long experience in conservative Republican Party affairs.

CPAC chairman David Keene responded to these claims by banning Gaffney and CSP from participating at the event, noting that Gaffney “has become personally and tiresomely obsessed with his weird belief that anyone who doesn't agree with him on everything all the time or treat him with the respect and deference he believes is his due, must be either ignorant of the dangers we face or, in extreme case, dupes of the nation's enemies.” [Southern Poverty Law Center, accessed 11/16/16]

Gaffney “Has Claimed That President Obama Is Aligned With The Muslim Brotherhood,” Which Has “Infiltrated” Various U.S. Political Institutions. The New York Times reported in 2015 that Gaffney “has claimed that President Obama is aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood” and that Gaffney believes that “agents of the Muslim Brotherhood have infiltrated the U.S. government, the Republican Party and conservative political organizations.” [The New York Times, 12/7/15]

Gaffney Has Testified “That Islam Was Not A Religion” In Order To Prevent The Construction Of Mosques. BuzzFeed reported that Gaffney “has testified in court on behalf of those seeking to prevent the construction of mosques by arguing that Islam was not a religion” and once presented a report to Congress “implying that the Obama administration was 'promoting the same totalitarian ideology and seditious agenda as al Qaeda.'” From the December 7, 2015, report:

The Center for Security Policy is a conservative think-tank that has long alleged that American Muslims are a threat to U.S. security. Frank Gaffney, its founder and a former Reagan era-assistant secretary of defense, has testified in court on behalf of those seeking to prevent the construction of mosques by arguing that Islam was not a religion. He's also written that President Barack Obama “may still be” a Muslim, and was banned from the Conservative Political Action Conference for alleging that its founder, activist Grover Norquist, was an agent of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Southern Poverty Law Center describes Gaffney as “gripped by paranoid fantasies about Muslims destroying the West from within.”

Nevertheless, Gaffney has maintained some influence on Capitol Hill, particularly among some House Republicans who share his views on Islam. In 2010, Gaffney presented a report to several members of Congress arguing that “radical Muslims are using Islamic law to subvert the United States” and implying that the Obama administration was “promoting the same totalitarian ideology and seditious agenda as al Qaeda[.]” [BuzzFeed, 12/7/15]

Gaffney Said It “Creeps” Him “Out” That Somali Immigrants Are Working In Meat-Processing Plants. A media guide to anti-Muslim extremists released by SPLC, Media Matters, Center for New Community, and ReThink Media said of Gaffney: “When asked at the 2015 Western Conservative Summit about Somali refugees, most of whom are Muslim, working at meat processing plants in the U.S., Gaffney responded: “I don’t know about you, but it kind of creeps me out that they are getting jobs in the food supply of the United States.” [Southern Policy Law Center, “A Journalist’s Manual: Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists,” 10/25/16]

Gaffney Has “Called For Muslims To Be Investigated By A 'New And Improved' House Un-American Activities Committee.” In a December 8, 2015, article, BBC News reported that the Center for Security Policy is “not very highly respected” and that its founder, Gaffney, has been called “one of America's most notorious Islamophobes” by the SPLC. BBC News noted that Gaffney has called for a "'new and improved' House Un-American Activities Committee" to investigate Muslims and “has repeatedly accused parts of America's Muslim population of what he calls 'civilisational jihad'”:

Who is Frank Gaffney Jr?

Mr Gaffney Jr served in the Reagan administration during the 1980s but left in 1988 to form the CSP, after his nomination as assistant secretary of defence was rejected by the Senate.

“Once a respectable Washington insider,” according to the Southern Poverty Law Centre, which monitors US hate groups and extremists, Mr Gaffney Jr became “one of America's most notorious Islamophobes”, the SPLC said.

Mr Gaffney Jr has repeatedly accused parts of America's Muslim population of what he calls “civilisational jihad”. He has also called for Muslims to be investigated by a “new and improved” House Un-American Activities Committee - a highly controversial Cold War-era body which questioned and blacklisted US citizens accused of being communists. Frequent Fox Guest Zuhdi Jasser

Zuhdi Jasser Is Slated To Speak At CPAC.

[Conservative Political Action Committee, accessed 2/21/17]

Jasser Claimed Reciting The Pledge Of Allegiance In Arabic Could Help ISIS. On the March 20, 2015, edition of Fox News’ Fox & Friends, Zuhdi Jasser, president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, suggested that reciting the pledge of allegiance in Arabic could encourage young Muslims to join ISIS and said the pledge should not be in the language of “communities or nations we're at war with.” [Fox News, Fox & Friends, 3/20/15]

Jasser Claimed The Council On American-Islamic Relations Sees Radicalization As Normal Behavior. During the December 8, 2015, edition of Fox News’ Your World with Neil Cavuto, Jasser claimed that the Muslim-American advocacy group Council on American-Islamic Relations “has within it deep anti-Semitism, deep anti-Americanism as far as our policies, and sort of inculcates those first steps of radicalization.” [Fox News, Your World with Neil Cavuto, 12/8/15]

Fox Business’ Lou Dobbs

Lou Dobbs Is Scheduled To Speak At CPAC.

[Conservative Political Action Committee, accessed 2/21/17]

Dobbs Has A History Of Bigotry Against Mormons. Fox Business’ Lou Dobbs has made discriminatory attacks against Mormons. In October, he attacked independent conservative presidential candidate Evan McMullin on Twitter as “nothing but a Globalist, Romney and Mormon Mafia Tool.” In August, Dobbs claimed that “the Mormon church appears to be involved” in Trump’s weakness in Utah polls. He explained: “There is a globalist view, a perspective on the part of the Mormon church. Mitt Romney has addressed it, others. Again, now we've got an independent candidate who is himself a Mormon. These are not coincidences. These appear to be an organized and energetic effort to disrupt Donald Trump's candidacy.” In May, regarding then-presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s refusal to support Trump, Dobbs said, “What is wrong with this man? I mean, is he getting -- he's Mormon, right? ... I mean, is he getting visions or something that nobody else can dial up?” In 2006, Dobbs criticized “the Mormon church” for purportedly seeking to encourage “as many of Mexico's citizens as they possibly could attract to the state of Utah, irrespective of the cost to taxpayers.” [Media Matters, 10/27/16]

Dobbs Pushed Obama Birtherism. In 2009, Dobbs, then at CNN, cast doubt on the adequacy of Obama’s birth certificate posted by FactCheck.org, suggesting that the birth certificate was not “the real document.” He also that year said that “there's certain quarters of the national liberal media that are just absolutely trying to knock down the issue of President Obama's birth certificate -- his certificate of live birth. And it's funny, because this is an issue that I get a lot of calls on from time to time and we -- and what we talk about is the fact that a certificate of live birth is not a birth certificate. It isn't the original document.” [Media Matters, 9/16/16]

Dobbs Pushed False Clinton Health Conspiracy Theories. Dobbs on Twitter in September linked to a NBC News article about Hillary Clinton coughing and wrote, “Her mental and physical state uncertain, it's time for answers: Clinton Coughing Attack.” [Media Matters, 9/6/16]

Dobbs Pushed Smear Against Khizr Khan. Dobbs in July pushed discredited researcher Roger Stone’s conspiracy theory that Khizr Khan, who spoke at the Democratic National Convention, is part of a “radical Muslim group.”

Fox’s Nigel Farage

Nigel Farage Slated To Speak At CPAC.

[Conservative Political Action Committee, accessed 2/21/17]

Farage Called For A Burka Ban In The UK. Fox contributor Nigel Farage was previously the leader of the far-right United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP). The UKIP in 2010 called for a ban on “the burka and other face-covering veils worn by Muslim women,” according to BBC News. The outlet quoted Farage as claiming women wearing a burka were “‘oppressed’” and that it could lead “‘towards a situation where many of our cities are ghettoised and there is even talk about Sharia law becoming part of British culture.’” From the January 17, 2010, article:

The burka and other face-covering veils worn by Muslim women should be banned, the UK Independence Party says.

Ex-UKIP leader Nigel Farage, who leads UKIP's 13 MEPs in Brussels, told the BBC's Politics Show they were a symbol of an “increasingly divided Britain”.

He also said they “oppressed” women and were a potential security threat.

[...]

"What we are saying is, this is a symbol. It's a symbol of something that is used to oppress women. It is a symbol of an increasingly divided Britain.
“And the real worry - and it isn't just about what people wear - the real worry is that we are heading towards a situation where many of our cities are ghettoised and there is even talk about Sharia law becoming part of British culture.” [BBC News, 1/17/10]

Farage Blamed Charlie Hebdo Attacks On “Promoting Multiculturalism.” Farage, appearing on Fox News following the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attacks in France, suggested that “multiculturalism” was to blame, saying that “the biggest mistake the governments have made” is that they have “promoted multiculturalism” and that “we come from countries with Christian cultures and Christian constitutions, and it's about time we started standing up for that.” [Fox News, Your World with Neil Cavuto, 1/7/15]

Farage Promoted Five-Year Ban On Immigrants Entering The UK. Farage in 2015 said the UKIP would likely campaign on “a five-year ban on people coming to settle in Britain,” along with a ban “from claiming benefits for five years after their arrival,” according to The Guardian. The outlet wrote that Farage wanted “the ban even if it led to a fall in UK prosperity.” From the January 7, 2014, article:

The UK Independence party is likely to go into the next election repeating its promise of a five-year ban on people coming to settle in Britain while immigration policy is sorted out, Nigel Farage has said.

The party leader also said all immigrants should be banned from claiming benefits for five years after their arrival, and admitted his plans would require the removal of the UK from the European Union.

[...]

Farage said his party supported a five-year ban on immigration to settle, alongside an Australian-style system of temporary work permits. He said he would go ahead with the ban even if it led to a fall in UK prosperity. [The Guardian, 1/7/14]

Farage: British Employers Should Be Allows To Discriminate Against Foreigners. Farage said, “Discriminating employers should be allowed to hire Britons over foreigners,” according to The Telegraph. The paper quoted Farage as saying that “ if an employer wishes to choose, or you can use the word “discriminate” if you want to, but wishes to choose to employ a British-born person, they should be allowed to do so.’” From the March 12, 2015, article:

Discriminating employers should be allowed to hire Britons over foreigners, Nigel Farage has said.

The leader of the UK Independence Party said employers “should be much freer to make decisions on who he or she employs”.

Mr Farage said: “I think the situation that we now have, where an employer is not allowed to choose between a British-born person and somebody from Poland, is a ludicrous state of affairs.

[...]

Mr Farage added: “I would argue that the law does need changing, and that if an employer wishes to choose, or you can use the word ‘discriminate’ if you want to, but wishes to choose to employ a British-born person, they should be allowed to do so. … I think you should be able to choose on the basis of nationality, yes. I do.
Mr Farage also said that he did not think there should be a law against discrimination on the grounds of race or colour. [The Telegraph, 3/12/15]

Farage Claimed Letting In Refugees Could Cause “Jihadists” In UK. Farage claimed that letting in refugees could let in “‘500,000 of their own jihadists,’” according to the New Statesman. From the September 4, 2015, article:

Nigel Farage has warned that granting sanctuary to refugees could result in Britain being influenced by Isis.

In remarks that were immediately condemned online, the Ukip leader said “When ISIS say they will flood the migrant tide with 500,000 of their own jihadists, we'd better listen”, before saying that Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, had done something “very dangerous” in attempting to host refugees, saying that she was “compounding the pull factors” that lead migrants to attempt the treacherous Mediterranean crossing. [New Statesman, 9/4/15]

Farage And UKIP Used Poster Compared To Nazi Propaganda During Brexit Campaign. Farage and the UKIP during the Brexit campaign used a poster “featur[ing] an image of migrants and refugees filing along in a column and the words ‘Breaking Point,’” according to The Washington Post. The Post noted that some compared the ad to “images from actual Nazi propaganda that demonized Jews and other minorities.” From the June 16 article:

Nigel Farage, leader of the anti-immigration United Kingdom Independence Party and champion of the campaign for Britain to leave the European Union, unveiled a new poster before the media in London on Thursday. It features an image of migrants and refugees filing along in a column and the words “Breaking Point.”

[...]

The controversial politician, moreover, was perhaps unaware of the resonance of his political messaging. On Twitter, some compared Farage's ad to images from actual Nazi propaganda that demonized Jews and other minorities in the aftermath of World War I.

Critics claimed that the poster was a sign of UKIP's and the pro-Brexit crowd's latent bigotry and racism. Guardian journalist Jonathan Jones likened Farage's stunt to the infamous 1968 “Rivers of Blood” speech delivered by Enoch Powell, a conservative politician who inveighed against immigration. Anti-Clinton Author Gary Byrne

Gary Byrne Scheduled To Sign Copies Of His Book Crisis Of Character At CPAC.

[Conservative Political Action Committee, accessed 2/21/17]

Byrne Speculated The Clintons Would Try To Murder Him. Gary Byrne, a former Secret Service officer whose anti-Clinton book Crisis of Character has been widely discredited, suggested on Alex Jones’ conspiracy-theory radio show that the Clintons may murder him over his book and pointed to “rumors of people that have had accidents” in Arkansas. Byrne also said he wouldn’t be “surprise[d]” if Jones’ theory that the administration let the Benghazi attacks happen on purpose to have Ambassador Chris Stevens “whacked” was true.[Media Matters, 6/30/16, 6/30/16
