Savage accused former page of “gay-baiting” Foley and added: “Maybe he's a Democrat”

On the October 2 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage responded to allegations that former Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) sent sexually explicit messages to former congressional pages by declaring that “the kid was leading him on” and was “gay-baiting” Foley. Savage also called the page a “sleazeball” and “a greedy, aggressive child” who “went to Washington to get ahead” and “knew how to play a congressman who was gay on the gay theme.” Savage also stated, “I don't know whether the boy exists,” but that if he does, "[m]aybe he's a Democrat."

Additionally, Savage asserted that Foley's resignation “has everything to do with gays” and that "[i]t proves why homosexuals cannot be trusted in sensitive positions." Savage also claimed that “the gay mafia has so much power” and “is the secret hand of censorship in this country” and stated: “The gays have always said, 'Now, Michael Savage, don't confuse homosexuality with pedophiles. We never, never molest children.' All right, tell that walking.” Savage has previously referred to the “homosexual mafia,” as Media Matters for America has documented. On the September 27 edition of his radio show, he lauded a Washington Times employee who allegedly solicited a 13-year-old girl for sex as a “normal pervert” who “should get a reward that it wasn't a boy,” as Media Matters also noted.

From the October 2 edition of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:

SAVAGE: Now, the kid himself, we don't know who it is. “The kid, the kid. All of a sudden, he's a boy, 16 years old.” I read the emails back and forth. As I said to you, there's no excuse for Foley. You know, don't put me in a position of defending him because it's indefensible. He did it to my kid, I guarantee you, when the kid was that age, I would've, I would've been unhappy, let's put it to you that way. OK. But the kid was leading him on. I mean, this kid was leading him on. You know what I'm saying? You read these things. Who is the kid? Maybe he's a Democrat. Maybe it's a -- I don't know who it is. Is there a real kid? I could argue that the age of consent is 16 in Washington, he really didn't have sex, that it's not illegal to actually have sex with a 16 year-old, but it's illegal to write an email suggesting sex, to show you how crazy America is. I mean, there are other observations to be drawn here, like, the boy was playing along with Foley, the deviant. And it's all part of the American obsession with sex, which it is.

SAVAGE: It also proves, and it's a hard thing for me to say to you because I know it's the third rail of talk radio, because they control the media. It proves why homosexuals cannot be trusted in sensitive positions as, by the way, was the basic undertone and law in the CIA and FBI for a -- until the 1960s. They wouldn't hire overt homosexuals because they knew that homosexuals could be blackmailed and seduced too easily. They were weak, in other words. That's the way it was seen by your father's generation or your grandfather's generation. Now that's all been swept under the rug and your brain has been washed so many times that you actually think that gay men are stronger than straight men, because they are in touch with their feminine side. Number two, the Democrats have been preaching that gay is good for 20 years now. The Dems are for gay marriage. So now, all of a sudden, they're in a difficult position when you think about it. They don't know what to do because by attacking Foley, they're attacking gay men. And you want to hear the other horror here for the gay movement? G-g-g-g-gay movement. You want to hear what's terrible for the g-g-gay movement here? The gays have always said, “Now, Michael Savage, don't confuse homosexuality with pedophiles. We never, never molest children.” All right, tell that walking.

SAVAGE: And they slime Foley, a homosexual. And by the way, you know what's staring us all right in the face is that he's a homosexual. Right in our face. And nobody in the media will talk about homosexuality and boys. That's like, “Oh my God, you can't talk about that. It has nothing to do with gays.” Yes, it does. This has everything to do with gays.

SAVAGE: Now, I don't know whether the boy exists. The boy sounds like a sleazeball to me, by the way, for playing along and -- you know, it's a little bit of gay-baiting, incidentally. You want to get into this? You want to go two ways on this one? I'll go every which way because I gotta kaleidoscopic mind. This kid was baiting him. This kid was playing with him, he's no innocent kid. This kid went to Washington to get ahead, let's be very clear. I'm not going to make dirty jokes now because I could if I was on the stage, because the audience wants it, and I know how to play the audience, but it's radio. He went to Washington to get ahead. So he's a greedy, aggressive child from a family that was pushing him already like a stage mother. All right, so he knew how to play a congressman who was gay on the gay theme. Let's be clear. We're grown-ups here. And that has to be discussed. What, all of a sudden 16 is a boy? First of all, boy is not 16.

SAVAGE: It's a hands-off thing on gays. They are the untouchables of the political world. And that is because the gay, the gay movement has so much power and so much money that nobody will say one word about the issue of gayness here in the whole situation. That's my opinion. It is staring us in the face. The man is gay, he has a thing with boys, and you're not talking about the fact that he was gay and he had a thing with boys. You're talking around the subject. That should tell you something unto itself, in my opinion. Now, I have paid the price for speaking out on that issue, as you well know. And I am sure I will continue to pay the price for speaking out on that issue. And that's a sad commentary that the gay mafia has so much power over the advertising industry, that the gay mafia has so much power over the television industry, that the gay mafia has so much power over the movie industry, that the gay mafia has so much power over the newspaper industry, that the gay mafia is the secret hand of censorship in this country. While talking against censorship, they are the censors. Seattle, Washington. Jim, you're on The Savage Nation.

CALLER: Yeah, Mike, there's another element here, and that's gay nepotism. Not only do the gays control everything, they don't hire you. Once the gays get in, that's all they hire is gays. The government is infected with it. What's occurring right now is if you're gay, you get to get medical insurance on the government for your live-in lover, doesn't have to be your husband or wife --

SAVAGE: Right. And you could have Bob today, and tomorrow it could be Tommy, and three months later it could be Harry. And a year later, it could be Sam.
