Party favor: Hannity narrated RNC welcome video, then issued his favorite lies and distortions in coverage of RNC's final night

Sean Hannity, co-host of Fox News Channel's Hannity & Colmes, narrated a Host Committee Welcome Video to welcome delegates to the Republican National Convention, then issued some of his favorite lies and distortions on the convention's final night.

From the September 2 edition of FOX News Channel's Hannity & Colmes (click links to read Media Matters for America items debunking each false claim):

  • HANNITY: These guys can dish it out. Boy, but if you [Senator Zell Miller] dare question their [Senator John Kerry and other Democrats] record accurately, that's out of bounds. [In a later segment of the show, Hannity continued talking about the Miller speech:] I find it laughable for all you Democrats to be so outraged over the truthful outlining of the record of John Kerry (debunked by MMFA).

  • HANNITY: [H]e [Kerry] also voted after the first Trade Center bombing, and his own Democrats couldn't support him, for the $6 billion in intelligence cuts that would have decimated our intelligence community (debunked by MMFA).

  • HANNITY: The weapons systems he [Kerry] voted to get rid of, the B-1, the cruise, the MX, the Trident, the Patriot, the F-15, the stealth [aircraft], the Pershing 2s, these are votes. They are on the record (debunked by MMFA).

  • HANNITY: You know, they go after the president [George W. Bush]. He did inherit the recession -- last quarter of their term, first quarter of his term. His economy doesn't start until October. It was the Clinton-Gore economy (debunked by MMFA).

  • HANNITY: There has been, like in the 527 ads when MoveOn.org ran ads comparing the president to Hitler, I didn't hear John Kerry or [Kerry senior adviser] Tad Devine complaining (debunked by MMFA).
