Limbaugh suggested "the White House ought to schedule" next press briefing "at Fort Marcy Park"February 16, 2006 10:25 AM EST ››› JOE BROWN
On the February 14 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh suggested that "the White House ought to schedule" its next press briefing "at Fort Marcy Park," the Northern Virginia location where Clinton deputy White House counsel Vincent Foster committed suicide on July 20, 1993. Limbaugh stated that the White House should "just send [press secretary Scott] McClellan out to Fort Marcy Park. And, hey, let's open that up, and why are you here? 'Well, you all -- you all seem interested in -- in delayed news.' "
Media Matters for America has noted (here, here, and here) previous instances in which Limbaugh referred to Fort Marcy Park, falsely implying that the Clintons were somehow involved in Foster's death, nearly a decade after multiple official investigations determined Foster committed suicide.
From the February 14 broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show:
LIMBAUGH: I don't remember Vice President [Dick] Cheney at the Waco invasion, do you? Don't remember that. I mean, I think -- I think it was Clinton-Gore that -- that was involved in -- in all of that gun activity and tank activity. I don't think these people realize how they look. I know they don't. I know they don't realize how they look. I know they don't realize how they sound. The next press conference, they ought to schedule -- the White House ought to schedule it at Fort Marcy Park. You know, just send [White House press secretary Scott] McClellan out to Fort Marcy Park. And, hey, let's open that up, and why are you here? "Well, you all -- you all seem interested in -- in delayed news and so --" But I just -- I know it'll never happen. Just one of these things I'd love to see.
