Tiger Breaks Media Silence, But Loses Fleischer

Tiger Woods opened up this weekend for his first media interviews since his sex scandal broke last fall, with on-camera appearances for ESPN and The Golf Channel.

But the champion golfer who plans to re-appear on the course at The Master's next month, also lost his guiding P.R. hand, former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer. Several outlets, including The Golf Channel, reported Fleischer dropped out of the Woods camp this weekend.

"[Fleischer] feels like he's becoming too big a part of the story," Golf Channel's Kelly Tilghman said Sunday following her interview with Woods. “He felt like that it was time for Tiger to have complete due and his name doesn't need to keep coming up.”

The ESPN interview was limited to five minutes and embargoed for broadcast until 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Woods also remained standing the entire time, unusual for such an in-depth approach. He declined to offer any details about the Thanksgiving car accident that began the ordeal, stating: “It's all in the police report.”
