Gannett Orders Furloughs For Highest-Paid Staffers

Furloughs during the second quarter of 2010 will be required of Gannett employees making more than $90,000 per year, according to the Gannettoid blog.

Gannettoid reports that newspaper executives throughout Gannett's community newspaper division were advised of the directive Monday.

“Almost all division employees have been required to take a furlough week during the first quarter,” the report added. “In 2009, all employees were required to take one furlough week in each of the first two quarters and most employees making at least $90,000 were required to take two weeks.”
