To Fox Nation, one British blogger is now “Britain”

For the past two days, the Fox Nation has prominently featured the headline, “Special Relationship Over? Britain Talks of Boycotting America.”

Really? The British government -- or, at the very least, a large group of Brits -- is thinking of “boycotting” America?

That's what most readers would reasonably take away from the Fox Nation's headline. Of course -- as with much of what's featured on Fox Nation -- it couldn't be further from the truth.

Fox Nation's headline links to a reprint of a March 11 blog post by U.K. Telegraph writer Alex Singleton, titled, “Barack Obama has made me want to boycott America.” In his post, Singleton wrote, “I'm boycotting America as a tourist destination. This summer, I'll be going to France, not California.”

So, just to recap this nonsense: Apparently to Fox Nation, one libertarian British writer commenting in a 3-month-old blog post about how he's going to holiday in France instead of California this year to stick it to President Obama now represents “Britain” talking of “boycotting America.”

Of course, Fox Nation's absurd headline is not at all surprising, given its lengthy history of misinforming readers.
