When Gateway Pundit quotes Free Republic, you know the truth is going to lose

And it did!

But if you think Gateway Pundit's Jim Hoft is ever going to correct this lie, even after Michelle Malkin has called out the claim as being bogus, you simply don't understand how portions of the far-right blogosphere work: You just makes stuff up. Period.

Gateway Pundit's fact-free claim was that a young GOP fundraiser and her boyfriend were “savagely beaten for wearing Palin pins” over the weekend in New Orleans. And what was Gateway Pundit's source for the “Palin pins” scoop? That bastion of journalism, Free Republic.

BTW, credit Malkin for doing some actual reporting and resisting the temptation to join the irresponsible ranks of Gatway Pundit who at this point I don't even think is right twice a day. Malkin has confirmed there no Palin pins involved in the unfortunate incident.

She writes:

Something awful happened to [Allee] Bautsch and her boyfriend. Right now, they deserve prayers and well wishes — not a hysterical political circus — while the police investigation continues.

I doubt Jim Hoft is listening.
