Position: Web Editor

Department: Editorial

Reports To: Managing Web Editor & Editorial Director

Location: Media Matters for America Headquarters, Washington, D.C.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Copyedit all website content for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, clarity, and adherence to Media Matters for America style
  • Remain current across a spectrum of media, including print, television, radio, and blogs
  • Proofread and correct website content
  • Participate in daily editorial meetings
  • Flexibility with work schedule; this position requires occasional evening and weekend work

Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years experience copyediting content at a print or online media outlet in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of politics in the media
  • A broad range of intellectual interests, particularly in the areas of politics, current events, and the media
  • Ability to debate and to speak persuasively
  • Creative and detail-oriented attributes as well as sensitivity to deadlines required
  • Commitment to the organizational mission and ideology in order to effectively promote and advance the goals of Media Matters
  • Ability to excel in a team-based, participatory environment as well as work autonomously; good sense of humor a plus
